ART AND OTHER STUFF FROM KURT WOOD

My wedding gift to my sister and her soon-to-be husband. My sister is a huge Trekkie…or Trekker. Whichever one isn’t offensive ;)

Painted on a 9x12 flat board and done with acrylic paint.

So my daughter asked me to do a quick sketch of her tonight. I whipped this up in about 4 minutes. By the way, she is a character in my upcoming comic “Franklin Goes to School”. Her hair will be a bit different, though :)

Line work for paintings I’m working on. I’ll have these two (and many others) available at Wizard World-Chicago Comic Con.

This is Dr. Colin Stein. He is the father of Franklin, who you all met a few days ago. Colin is a work-at-home dad. He is always tinkering on multiple experiments at a time. Some work…most work for a short time before the sparks and smoke start up! You can find his various projects all throughout the Stein home, much to the dismay of his wife Elsa (Who? Don’t worry… you will meet her in the next few days!).

This is Franklin, star of my upcoming all-ages comic Franklin Goes to School. He is a 5 year old kid getting ready for his first day of kindergarten (well…first day of school, really). He may be a little bit different from the other kids, but he still wants the same things as any 5 year old…friends and FUN!Most of my updates from now until Wizard World-Chicago will be Franklin Goes to School related. Check back tomorrow to meet Franklin’s dad, Colin Stein.

So a slight change of plans. While I continue to flesh out the stories and script for my graphic novel “Timeless as Infinity” (admittedly it needs work), I’ve decided to move ahead with my all ages comic “Franklin Goes to School”. I’ve been noodling around with this project for the better part of 3 years and finally feel ready to unleash it upon the comic world. Simply put, it is the tale of a young monsters entry into pre-school. The first issue will debut at the Chicago Comic-Con in August. I’ll be posting behind the scenes style posts here and on my website tracking my progress.

Fun!

C2E2 2012 Post Mortem

What can I say? C2E2 2012 was a huge success! All of my paintings sold, my prints sold well, and I was sketching all weekend long. Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table and bought something. I am truly humbled by your support.

I got hang to out with some great table neighbors, the Aw Yeah Comics crew, and my friends and bunk mates after hours. I really had a great time. Heck, I even got Shia Labeouf to give me a serious stink eye!

Over the next few months my plan is to continue work on my graphic novel Timeless as Infinity and have it completed by the time Wizard World Chicago rolls around. I still have copies of the preview issue left, so if you want to get a look at what GN will be feel free to email me at kurtwood81@gmail.com. I will be more than happy to send a copy your way. I only ask that you cover shipping costs. I may even have my first all ages comic, Franklin Goes to School, ready. Fingers crossed!
